National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)
Established in 1986, due to the rising demand for professional expertise in the burgeoning export industry of India, the National Institute of Fashion Technology initiated and backed by the Ministry of Textile, Government of India, a never-ending era of innovation in the field of the rag trade was started. To match and tackle the global trading scenario, the standard of education given to the potential leaders of fashion, textile, and lifestyle sectors, was set high in the initial days and since then the quality bar has just kept getting higher and higher.
After becoming a statutory body in 2006 under the Act of Parliament, authorizing the institute to award degrees and other academic distinctions, the establishment became a renowned platform for fabricating technically trained candidates for leading the entire value chain of design and fashion with grace and grandeur.
Fashion and textile is a highly dynamic industry. NIFT fully acknowledges this and therefore, always keeps introducing and upgrading its curriculum according to the market requirements. Due to this, the students are successfully able to emerge as the top experts in their respective fields.
The focal point in most of the student’s ethical syllabus is inclined towards respecting the ever so monumental Indian heritage and extract inspiration from our daily way of life, traditional arts, and indigenous handicrafts. NIFT UG Courses Admission Procedure
In order to get admission to one of the reputed NIFT establishments, you have to clear their entrance examination which is conducted in a phase-wise manner. Common Criteria
- The minimum age limit to apply for NIFT 2022 is 23 years as of 1st October 2022 for the General category.
- 5 years Age relaxation will be given to SC/ST/PHP candidates.
Course-wise Criteria
- For B.F.Tech (Duration: 4 years)
- The candidate should have passed the secondary or equivalent examination with major subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from any recognized board. A three or four years Diploma recognized by the AICTE or State Board of Technical Education can also apply.
- For B. Des (Duration: 4 years)
- The candidate should have passed the secondary or equivalent examination from any recognized board. A three or four years Diploma recognized by the AICTE or State Board of Technical Education can also apply.

Admission Procedure
For PG courses of NIFT, the exam that you have to give for getting admission is the same as the one that a UG course aspirant will give, following the same procedures. The only difference will be that the paper for M.Des will have a different pattern than the one given by the M.FTech and MFM, even though the syllabus will remain the same. The written exam is followed by situational and GD/PI testing, clearing which you will be ready to fulfill your dream of studying at one of the top Indian designing institutes.

- For M.FTech (Duration: 2 years)
- The candidate must have a degree of B.E/ B.Tech from any recognized university/ institute by the correct authorities of India or B.FTech from NIFT.
