• NIFT, Delhi
  • The National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFT), Delhi, was founded in 1986 by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, in technical collaboration with the FIT, New York. NIFT Delhi is one of the country’s premier design schools, with its headquarters in New Delhi. According to the official website, NIFT Delhi offers students both regular and Continuing Education (CE) programs. The design school also houses the world’s oldest and most comprehensive Resource Centre, which houses vast collections of printed and non-printed resources.

Accessory Design Lab, 3D Printer, Photography Studio, Mac Lab, Garment Construction Lab, Pattern Making Lab, Textile Design Studio, Textile Testing Lab, Digital Studios and IT Labs, and Weaving Studio are all located on the NIFT Patna campus.

• NIFT, Gandhinagar
  • NIFT Gandhinagar began as a temporary campus in 1995 and was later given a permanent site of 20,000 square meters. The permanent campus of NIFT Gandhinagar opened in 2004. Following that, the fashion design college was given an extra 10,000 square meters to construct the girl’s hostel, director’s bungalow, and staff quarters. Up to 202 students can be accommodated in the hotel on a twin-sharing basis.

• NIFT, Hyderabad
  • In 1995, the foundation stone for NIFT Hyderabad was placed. NIFT Hyderabad began operations in Chenetha Bhavan in Nampally, Hyderabad. NIFT Hyderabad was relocated to Madhapur in 1999, where the design school was spread out over five acres. The architectural grandeur of NIFT Hyderabad’s campus, as well as its aesthetic appeal, is well acclaimed. Only girls are allowed to stay at the hostel at NIFT Hyderabad, and only on a first-come, first-served basis. The hostel has a total of 238 rooms. Boys do not have access to a hostel.

• NIFT, Kolkata
  • NIFT Kolkata first opened its doors in 1995 at Manjusha Bhavan at Salt Lake. In 1999, NIFT Kolkata relocated to a five-acre campus in Salt Lake. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is one of India’s five oldest fashion institutes. Three conference halls, 44 classrooms, fully equipped labs, 3D printers, laser cutting machine, ETON overhead material carrying system, Shima Seiki computerized knitting machine, digital tablets, digital printing machine, and soft body dress forms are among the amenities available to students at NIFT Kolkata. Aside from that, NIFT Kolkata’s Resource Centre has over 15,000 books and has a large material collection that includes fabric swatches, traditional costumes, fashion clothes, textiles, and accessories.

There are 70 full-time faculty members at NIFT Kolkata, including 13 professors.

• Pearl Academy, New Delhi
  • Pearl Academy of Fashion was founded in 1993 by the Little People Education Society and incorporated under the Societies Registration Act 1860. It was originally sponsored by an Indian export firm called House of Pearl Fashions Ltd. Pearl Academy’s first location was in Okhla, South Delhi, but the college eventually moved to a larger campus in Naraina, West Delhi. Aspirants can pursue an International Bachelor’s Degree or an Indian Bachelor’s Degree at Pearl Academy. Pearl Academy helps students get into courses at the University of Derby, Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, and Torrens University in Australia.

• Symbiosis Insititute of Design
  • Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID), Pune, was founded in 2006 and covers an area of 80,000 square feet. “The campus of Symbiosis Institute of Design at Viman Nagar houses state-of-the-art design studios, laboratories, workshops, IT infrastructure, rapid prototyping lab, well-equipped classrooms, library, exhibition areas, seminar hall, conference hall, and so on,” according to the official website. There is also an amphitheater, a state-of-the-art auditorium, and an academic plaza on campus for diverse activities such as design shows. Wi-Fi is available across the campus.”
